Hello! I’m My-Tien. I help entrepreneurs and professionals connect to their best self through personal development, personal branding, and leadership / founder development.
What distinguishes me from other coaches? First, an integral component of my coaching programs is a Self-Care practice, which I believe is the foundation of our daily life. Our body is our only home: 24/7! Our physical health is the most important asset that we need to nurture because when we’re not healthy, we’re not at our best on both personal and professional fronts.
My practice also reflects 1) a holistic view that each of us is part of the wider cosmology and 2) an East-West approach to problem-solving, creativity, wellness, and life. You could describe it as right-left mindset with yin-yang energy. I strive to honor integrity in both process and product, and to view every interaction as an opportunity to learn, share, and grow. I get to the heart of the matter. I value honesty, trustworthiness, fairness, kindness, and courage.
I draw from 20 years of collaboration with founders and professionals from diverse backgrounds and age groups. My collaborators come from various sectors: technology, healthcare, education, art & design, hospitality, nonprofit, legal, real estate, and construction. My collaborators come from various sectors: technology, healthcare, education, art & design, hospitality, nonprofit, legal, real estate, and construction. In the startup arena I’ve worn multiple hats: founder, co-founder, brand developer, content developer, product developer, team builder, operations manager, project manager, and crisis manager. I love building new products and tapping all my resources to help fellow entrepreneurs realize their dreams. I often found myself wearing a coach’s hat, guiding and supporting entrepreneurs, fellow alumni, and professionals through different life stages. I truly love being a coach and a mentor. I became a coach to help me be a better guide as I continue to learn and grow.
I grew up in a progressive Vietnamese family with deep Confucian roots that prize humaneness (nhân từ), loyalty to one’s true nature (trung thành), reciprocity (có qua có lại), and filial piety (lòng hiếu thảo)—caring for our elders and honoring our ancestors. Our daily life also reflected Taoist beliefs in living simply and in harmony with nature. From my dad, I inherited a love of languages, history, and travel. From my mom, I learned to find joy and beauty everywhere, even in facing challenges. I observed how my parents lived through wartime with stoicism, resilience, industriousness, optimism, a belief in the best of people, and an openness toward all beings. I watched them chat easily with strangers, find common ground, and just like that, become new friends.
While some of my old-world values may appear archaic in today’s 21st century, they have blended perfectly with my American upbringing—the entrepreneurial and forward-looking mindset that embraces creativity, hard work, perseverance, and a DYI approach. And they’ve been enriched by my living, studying, and working in Asia, North America, and Europe. My multicultural background is the repository of wisdom, ideas, and insights that inspire and sustain me as I navigate my journey while connecting with others and sharing my gifts. If my profile resonates, let’s connect and collaborate!
