What’s The One Thing That Shall Transform Your Life?
Are you at a juncture where you wish so much for change in your life? Yet, your wish remains dormant because you are too busy living an active life—one that’s overloaded with activities and distractions. But an active life doesn’t necessarily give you that bone-deep sense of well-being.
Do you find yourself thinking that something is missing in your life, and slowly that feeling spreads throughout your being like a low-grade fever that doesn’t incapacitate you but affects everything you do? Have you realized that it has been a long time since you felt transformed? Days have passed, weeks have passed, years have passed, and then you realize that—out of habit and by default—you have not made that leap, the one move that could infinitely improve your life.
What is that one thing? Have you ever given yourself permission to ask the question and search for your answer?
If you already know the answer, then take action. If not, when?
If you find yourself stuck, unsure of which direction to take, keep reading.
I, too, have gone through times when I was uncomfortably stuck in my comfort zone, searching for The One Thing (TOT) that would propel me forward.
I don’t know which TOT is appropriate for you, but what I have to offer are lessons learned and time-honored insights—culled from both Eastern and Western traditions, from ancient teachings to modern wisdom shared by contemporaries from all walks of life. For me, it has been a journey of trial and error. Looking back, I realize that, like Mother Nature, our lives are a continuum of change with cycles and repeating patterns. Many times, I’ve returned to these insights to break free from my comfort zone and jolt into action.
What I learned is that there is not just one TOT. At different moments, hours, days, or weeks, there are different TOTs that can infinitely improve my life. And as I evolve, that TOT changes.
But at any one moment, there is only one thing to pursue. And when I focus on applying it to my life, I am enriched, and sometimes transformed.
These insights are not always easy to implement, but then again, they can be. It all depends on how you choose to view and apply them to your life. If you think you can, you will. If you don’t think you can, you’ve already taken yourself off course, and you’ve just written the ending, remaining stuck in your uncomfortable comfort zone.
I hope these insights can help you uncover forgotten goals, inspire a new perspective, and energize you to transform your life. Sometimes, all we need are fresh eyes and a reminder.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing these TOT insights that I compiled more than a dozen years ago. I’d love to hear about the TOTs that have served you well.
One more thing…
Not long ago, #DorieClark talked about the ‘N of 1,’ a scientific method that focuses on the individual as the unit of analysis for multiple crossover trials. The takeaway is, ‘what worked for me, worked for me. It doesn’t mean the same things will work for you.’ This is so true!
It’s up to each of us to step forward, take charge, and figure out what our TOT is — what’s The One Thing that shall transform our life? If not now, when?
